Sunset Park Tour

City skyline view with tall skyscrapers in the distance, framed by blooming pink flowers and residential buildings in the foreground.

When most people think of Chinatown in New York, they think Downtown Manhattan or Flushing. But, did you know that New York City has nine Chinatowns? Sunset Park’s Chinatown centered along 8th Avenue is one of the largest and has one of the city’s most vibrant communities of Fujianese residents.

⏱︎ Total Time: ~3 hours

👣 Total Walking: ~1.5-2 miles

$ Price: $100 per person

Sunset Park, like neighboring Bay Ridge, is also home to a significant Arabic community. One of the first (and best) spots in the city’s Yemeni coffee shop boom is where we start things off. From there, we will visit the neighborhood’s namesake park to take in the views before heading to the heart of Sunset Park’s Chinatown.

On our walk down 8th Avenue, we will sample food from street vendors, fruit markets, and brick-and-mortar restaurants, including my favorite peanut noodles and egg tarts in the city and an excellent banh mi. We conclude the tour a short walk from the N train at 86th Street.
